It is estimated that over 5% of the world’s population, or roughly 400 million people, are hearing impaired in some way. Learning ASL can help you be a part of their conversations, helping them communicate in everyday situations with others who may not know ASL!
Linda is a CODA, a Child Of Deaf Adult. She grew up with a deaf mother (pictured above), and accommodated her needs as a young child, and throughout her mother’s remaining years. Ms. Leola May Bell passed away in 2018. Mrs. Bell was so inspired by her mother’s tenacity and steadfast persona, she decided to name the business Ring A Bell for ASL in 2021 in her honor on her birthday, April 21.
Bell received her (ITP) Interpreter and Deaf Studies degree from Mott Community College-Flint, and also a Bachelor degree from The University of Michigan-Flint. Mrs. Bell established BFA Communications, LLC, served as freelance interpreter for the State of Michigan.
Linda has performed as a community liaison for many years, bridging the gaps of communications between organizations, foundations, sororities, and other clubs, while remaining passionate to teach children and adults American Sign Language (ASL) for over three decades. She has welcomed the Deaf, Blind, Hard-of-Hearing and the Deaf Blind community into her classrooms, continuing to fully engage, educate and enhance the skills of her ASL students.
